Scarab jewels have been part of my life for over 20 years. Janine, aided by my generous husband, brothers and mother, has created jewellery that has brought me so much pleasure on so many different levels. I love what Janine does with colour, I love the simplicity of her pieces, I love how she listens to what I want to wear and makes it work, I think she is a real craftsman in her trade, she has years of experience and yet the essence of Scarab never changes.

I fell in love with Scarab jewellery with my first pair of little silver scarabs. And the love affair continues with my most recent delight: dangling rainbow moonstones which catch light and colour. Every visit to the studio is a pleasure, whether to browse, get advice on reworking some old bits ‘n pieces or to have my jewellery cleaned (free service with a smile btw). Owner/designer Janine Davidson is such a giving spirit. Her artistry is evident everywhere. And her eye for loveliness shines true and through every piece.

I have loved Scarab jewellery since I coveted a pair of gold earrings my friend was wearing and just had to have a pair the same… more than 20 years ago! As a graphic designer, I have so appreciated the beautiful design ethic and perfect craftsmanship – and of course, Janine and her cohorts just couldn’t be nicer, so always a pleasure to visit the store when I’m in Cape Town.

I brought 3 “unwearable” rings to Janine for upcycling – one of which was my diamond engagement ring, a dress ring scattered with diamonds and a diamond ring given to me by my children many many years ago. Janine designed a stack of 3 rings – just beautiful. I’m really really pleased.
